If you haven’t been living under a rock, you must know who Al Capone is. For those of you who were, Al Capone was a legendary American gangster who was active in Chicago from 1919 – 1932. During his lifetime, he was involved in several heinous crimes and was eventually brought to justice by a task force dubbed as the Untouchables.
Now, we all know items that used to be owned by historical figures are usually worth a fortune. Therefore, it should come as no surprise to anyone that Capone’s granddaughters are now planning to sell off his belongings in exchange for some cash. Witherell’s Luxury Asset Auctioneers will be the ones presiding over this auction.
Following is the list of things that will be available for purchase at the auction.
- Capone’s vintage family photos.
- Capone’s favorite handgun – a Colt semi-automatic pistol.
- His knife collection.
- His furniture.
- His diamond jewelry.
- A white gold matchbook cover with his initials spelled out from diamonds.
- His Patek Philippe pocket watch with similar diamond-encrusted initials.
Brian Witherell of the Witherell auction house stated that this was one of the most significant auctions in the auction house’s 52-year-old history.
The auction is being held now due to Capone’s three granddaughters publicly sharing their experiences with him. One of them, Patricia Capone, will also sign the copies of her book from 2019, “Al Capone: Stories My Grandmother Told Me.”
The auction will go live on the 8th of October at 20:00 Central time.
