Sleeping Beauty would have loved this bed – its the most luxurious bed that we have come across and its been designed by a Kiwi which explains why it is being sold at the end of the world. But what has us excited is that it costs a whopping $15 grands and even has diamonds covering its base.

Beautyrest Black Bed
Costing about $19,000 (that is about $15,000 USD) for the most expensive option- this is not just a one off gimmick either. The company behind the BeautyRest Black bed has been around for nearly a century – since 1925 to be exact. Designer Dean Rope then had a go at the bed which is made of triple woven springs, advanced memory foam, progressive latex with anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and alpaca fibres offset by the sparkling, hand-rivetted crystals.
Ah yes, the crystals. Its the reason that the bed is currently occupying a place of pride in the middle of Harvey Norman’s (retailer) Mount Maunganui bedding department. The sides of the mattress and base have been studded with precisely cut Swarovski diamond crystals which add a very sophisticated bling effect to the bed.
However unlike products which simply get studded with diamonds and gold – this bed can actually lay claim to being the most comfortable and luxurious. In addition to its anti-fungal and memory foam properties; the foam is also pre-crushed. That too three times. Pre-crushing the foam helps in eliminating the body impressions that form in the bed over years of use.
The bed gets a 15 year warranty and has four different sizes with users getting to choose from between three different bases including a black leather option.
It helps to know that each bed is handcrafted, takes 300 hours to make and uses the finest componentry in the world and the most expensive alpaca fabric from South America and woven in Italy.
The queen size sells for $14,999, super king $17,499 and Californian $18,499 (All prices in New Zealand Dollars).
Given that an average human spends one-third of his or her life on the bed; its probably the best luxury that you could buy and make optimum use of.
