How much will you pay for a pair of 3D printed sneakers? Artist Kyle Steed and Bulleit frontier whiskey have paired up to create them, for $250. It’s a limited edition, and will be available from October 25. They have previously worked together on Noble Denim, but this is their first 3D project together.
Kyle Steed, who is mostly known for his abstract murals said, “When I was approached by Bulleit to work on this project, the initial thing that piqued my interest was really just their outside-of-the-box thinking, and I know that phrase is kind of cliché nowadays, but 3D printing shoes is something that I’ve never thought of, and I don’t think I’ve ever even seen before. So that was wild, and I was like, ‘Okay, you’ve got my attention.”
This is a simple design, with white tops, brought out by the colourfulness and 3D design of the shoes. The sneakers took more than 200 hours to develop, and another 11-12 days to produce. The design was inspired by Steed’s interpretation of what it means to be on the Frontier of culture.
These limited edition custom made kicks will be available on Sneakerpolitics.com. Steed is also creating a mural to go with the shoes at Ervay Theater. You can watch the mural being made with DJ Christy Ray and Yung Wave spinning tunes. And as for the sneakers, Kyle swears by their comfort.
