Barbie has championed girls. It has inspired generations not only to be glam and fashionable, but also showed it to the world that girls have choices. She inspired the limitless potential in every girl.
2019 marks Barbie’s 60th anniversary, and the iconic doll is being celebrated in many ways, with the release of a new range of Barbie toys.
You can also be a part of celebration by staying in a Barbie-themed room at the Hilton Mexico City Santa Fe.
The hotel has joined forces with Mattel to transform one of its rooms into a “glamping”-style suite. The suite features a collection of rare Barbie dolls and life-sized DreamCamper.
The hotel is literally rolling out the pink carpet for each guest’s arrival, and has also created a Barbie-themed dining menu, and included plenty of photo ops.
Depending on when you stay at the Barbie Suite, which is offered until December 2019, the room costs between $189 and $229 per night.
“It’s a fusion of glamour and camping, combining the convenience and luxury of a hotel with certain aspects of traditional camping,” general manager Andres Korngold said in a statement. “Barbie loves to travel, enjoys nature and cares about the environment, without forgoing the comfort of the most sophisticated accommodations. Travelers can now join in her dream glamping experience with an in-room DreamCamper that allows guests to travel in style.”
The themed room took 20 weeks to create.
The experience starts from the moment guests arrive. In the lobby is an oversized pink Barbie shoe, where visitors can stop and take pictures.
Then there are the pink velvet ropes and pink carpet leading up to the front desk, giving Barbie fans the VIP treatment.
Upstairs in the room, the Barbie theme really takes over: The suite has a life-sized DreamCamper with a bed inside, in which kids can play and sleep.
A fake grass floor with a faux camp-fire sets the tone, and there are both plenty of toys and collectors’ items — rare dolls from the past six decades — in the room.
The bathroom is all done up, too, with Barbie artworks, toys, and toiletries, including a welcome kit of beauty and self-care essentials.
And the Barbie glamour doesn’t stop in the suite, either. The hotel has set up pink branded lounge chairs by the pool, and the restaurant, MADERA, is serving up a pink menu that includes heart-shaped pizzas, gnocchi in pink sauce, red velvet treats, and strawberry ice cream.
