Now, you may have heard about the limited edition kegs from Blue Moon celebrating the lunar landing. But, on the other end of the spectrum, we have Nabisco. Who is Nabisco? Nabisco is the makers of the cookie loved by God himself, Oreo, and they are launching a limited edition snack to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing.
So, what did they announce?
Well, the company announced that they will release the all-new Oreo Marshmallow Moon Cookies in June. The cookies will feature three new Oreo designs inspired by the Moon Landing. Every variant will come with purple marshmallow creme filling.
A cartoonish waning crescent moon flanked by three stars was presented as the first design. The second variant features an Apollo astronaut in a spacesuit standing beside a flag. A ringed planet and gorgeous stars can also be seen behind him. The last design has a space shuttle traversing through space. It can be seen passing by several planets and stars.
Since the cookies are so special, their packaging also needs to be up to the mark. Therefore, Nabisco has decided to go with special glow-in-the-dark packaging for the new cookies. The cookies will also come with anniversary sticker sets and an inscription that will say “Moon Landing 50th Anniversary.”
Alas! The Apollo 11 astronauts didn’t know the worth of Oreo back in their day. After all, they took sugar cookie cubes with them in space despite Oreo being a thing in their time.
This isn’t the first time Nabisco has done something like this.
Back in 2012, Oreo took to Twitter to showcase an Oreo cookie with rover tracks to celebrate the Curiosity Rover’s landing on Mars. The cookie featured the brand’s red-colored creme.
Soon after, when Armstrong passed away in 2012, Nabisco released a special graphic on the cookie in the man’s honor. The Oreo maker said that this was an ode “To the man who made us believe in the impossible.” The cookie also had the words “celebrating an American hero.” The words were presented alongside the image of Armstrong in his spacesuit.
Not expensive but one of the few luxuries in life that are affordable yet a truly enjoyable.
