Retro 51 is a brand known for its excellent writing instruments that often feature aesthetics from the glorious days of the past. So what are they making this time? Well, their newly announced Space Shuttle Enterprise Tornado takes after NASA’s space shuttle of the same name. This launch is part of their collaboration with the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation that has been ongoing since 2019.
The original NASA spaceship was named the Enterprise after letters from Star Trek fans, cast, crew, and the creators flooded the organization. Now, this pen aims to inspire the younger generation to fall in love with space exploration and further the fascination with space that people had in the space race era.
The Pen.
This pen emulates the look of the space shuttle by using graphics resembling the ones on the actual shuttle. The graphic is printed on a stainless steel barrel which is then coated with a gloss varnish to protect it. Black nickel accents at the ends complement the design further.

Each pen in this limited edition series will be numbered, and a total of 1958 will be made. This specific number refers to the founding year of NASA. The top disc of the pen carries the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation’s logo, and the pen will ship in a tube adorned with similarly excellent graphics.

Pricing and Availability.
The pen can be bought through Retro 51’s retail outlets and select international distributors for $60 each. The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation will also sell this pen through its store alongside an autographed print by Haise for $200.
