eBay is a good place to start for anyone hoping to get their hands on a cheap deal but among the bargains there are some expensive items on offer. Recently, Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit 50p coin was selling for $2400 – is it actually worth it?
The bidding website, eBay, is filled with commemorative coins which regularly get put up for sale. These coins are great attraction to collectors as they are lovely to look at.
Just lately, a Peter Rabbit 50p coin was uploaded by the vendor “olivelewer-sotirio_0”. The coin was up on sale for way more than its face worth.
A special Peter Rabbit coin is worth a huge amount of money. The limited edition 50p coin was released in 2016 as part of a commemorative set, paying homage to legendary children’s author Beatrix Potter.
eBay had uploaded the 50p piece together with three footage of it.
They wrote: “Mint situation ‘The Story of Peter Rabbit’ 50p coin. Produced within the 12 months 2017 as seen in the above images, making it an uncommon and really invaluable product.
“Acquired this when it first came out and has been on show ever since.”
The seller went on to say the coin is a “very reliable investment” in addition to speculating the worth will go up much more.
The Peter Rabbit 50p is from 2017 batch of Beatrix Potter commemorative coins. New versions of the coins have been brought out each year to celebrate the birth of the children’s author.
Though one of the most sought-after coins at the moment, but certainly not worth a lot of money.
According to the coin website, Change Checker, the 50p has a mintage of 19,300,000. It ranks as one on the Scarcity Index, which makes it common. In fact an estimated worth of this coin is just $4.56.
But as I said these limited edition commemorative coins featuring Beatrix Potter’s character Peter Rabbit have been quite popular amongst collectors. There have been a few other Peter Rabbit 50ps released so far.
