Who can forget Dorothy’s shiny shoes from The Wizard of Oz? Well, those are nothing compared to these gold and diamond shoes that have been unveiled in Dubai. Although we’re sure Dorothy didn’t pay the dear price of 73 million dirhams for it.
These shoes, paying homage to the ultra-glamorous emirate of Dubai, is vying to be the most expensive pair of shoes in the world. Desgined by Antonio Vietri, the Moon Star Shoes have heels that are the exact replica of the Burj Khalifa. Such expensive shoes are bound to have diamonds- and they do. 30-karat ones. But the most exciting part of these shoes is that they feature a piece of an actual meteorite, which was found in Argentina in 1576.
These aren’t walking shoes for sure. But they symbolize the Burj Khalifa in a way that no other fashion piece has.
They were unveiled as part of the Made in Italy, Designed in Dubai fashion show held at the Dubai Marina. Vietri said that the word impossible doesn’t exist in his dictionary, after creating the most expensive shoes in the world. He is known as the creator of diamond shoes, and has created his own brand, using timeless techniques handed over from generations of Italian shoemakers.
Previously, the most expensive shoes of the world were by British designer Debbie Wingham, created using large pink and blue diamonds. They cost 55.5 million in dirhams.
