The Dubai International boat show is always a sight to behold. Yachts that are the very pinnacle of luxury are present at the show while ‘affordability’ is a word that most attendees have never even heard about.
Seen at the 2012 boat show were features such as a transparent jacuzzi (we wonder why no one though about this so far) and gold toilets (not an original idea given the HongKong Gold Flush but a perfect match for the gold plated toilet brush).
The gold loo was shown off by UAE-based boat builder Gulf Craft on board the 135 feet Majesty super yacht. The gold plated toilet bowl is installed in the master bedroom’s en suite and is accompanied by a gold plated bidet too. The Majesty is also known for having an elevator on board to help guests reach the lower decks which feature four other luxury suites. The cost is a mere 63 million dirham ($17 million USD).
The jacuzzi meanwhile was a request that was catered to by AS Marine of Ajman (UAE). The sea-through jacuzzi was fitted to the rear deck of a yacht in such a way that those sitting inside could peer down through the bubbles and the bottom of the bath and see fish swimming beneath the vessel. The glass jacuzzi was an add-on that cost the buyer an additional 110,000 Dirham ($30,000).
