BTS, or Bangtan Boys, have been stealing hearts since 2013. The Korean pop band is hugely popular worldwide, especially among the younger generation. They’re still very young, but they’ve already entered the world of pop memorabilia auction with their microphones.
Seven microphones, used by each member of the band are being auctioned, and are expected to fetch up to $20,000. The auction will be held next month during the Grammy’s. Bidding will end on January 24, 2020.
Mr Martin, the executive director of Julien’s Auction said, “The microphones were used from 2017 to 2019 on the Love Yourself tour. If you own something like this, signed by each member, that’s highly collectible, and in years to come will very likely continue to appreciate in value.”
Other items from the auction include guitars signed by Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and The Who guitarist Pete Townshend. The actual auction is slated to happen on January 26, just two days before the Grammy Awards. All proceeds will go to the Recording Academy’s charitable arm, Musicares.
What began as a South Korean pop band has taken over the world, with fans all over Europe, the USA, and other parts of Asia. They carry a message of self-confidence, and have a huge fan following especially among teenagers. This year, they became the first group since the Beatles to score three No. 1 albums in a year on the Billboard 200 chart.
