Knowing that, we though it imperative that we share with our readers that this 10 month old cheese called as Ossau-Iraty from Sheep’s milk has just been voted as the best in the world. For the second time. The Ossau-Iraty is made by a small family owned business – Fromagerie Agour who are located in France. The Ossau-Iraty which was also the best cheese in 2006 is described as being white, supple and creamy in texture while being nutty and robust in flavor.
The cheese is made from raw unpasteurized milk, is uncooked and pressed and then aged. The Ossau Iraty won the award at the World Cheese Awards in Birmingham, England which is the largest competition for cheese in the world.
