Platinum Guild International, in order to further the use of platinum as jewelry and to show what it is capable of designed a dress crafted from microscopic threads of platinum. The dress designed by Italian designer Domo Adami costs a cool 100,000 pounds (163,000$).
The dress seen in the accompanying photo has been modelled by former Miss Scotland Nieve Jennings who looks ravishing since the dress has been accessorised with a $250,000 Aqua necklace by Orlando Orlandini. The necklace is also made of platinum and set with diamonds. The necklace has been described as “the spirit of the metal in a masterpiece that conveys the whole platinum legend”
The dress will be on show at Rox’s Glasgow store until Tuesday April 12th, as part of PGI UK’s annual exhibition of some of the finest platinum pieces.
Kyron Keogh, co-owner of Rox jewellers added: “We believe in supporting the UK’s most talented up-and-coming jewellery designers and we are delighted to be the only Scottish jeweller hosting this year’s Platinum Guild International UK exhibition.”
Platinum is one of the rarest elements in the Earth’s crust and has an average abundance of approximately 0.005 mg/kg
We, at The Rich Times have had the pleasure of carrying similar dresses recently – the diamond studded prom dress (worth 14,000$) and the Swarovski studded BIC pen dress (worth 10,000 pounds) come to mind immediately.
