Porsche’s limited-edition models usually sell rapidly, so if you’re thinking about the 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster, you should better act fast, even though it costs as much as a really nice house in some areas.
The 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster made its debut in the New York International Auto Show with a price tag of $275,750 which includes the delivery fee of $1,250. It won’t be plentiful, just limited to 1,948 units across the globe.
The Speedster concept is the perfect tribute to open-top driving and the world’s coastal roads. It emphasises solely on the driving experience than anything else. True to Ferry Porsche’s own words – “I wanted to build cars that were not something to everyone, but meant everything to some.”
The anniversary model forges a link between the very first Porsche 356 ‘No. 1’ Roadster, which received its operating permit on June 8, 1948, and the Porsche cars of today. –
911 Speedster is based on the Porsche’s moto of lightweight construction, efficiency and unadulterated driving pleasure. The beauty is based on the 911R and the GT3, while the rear spoiler and apron is derived from the limited GT3 Touring. The new car will go from 0-62mph in four seconds and have a top speed of 192mph.
The characteristics of the 911 Speedster Concept include the shorter window frame with a more inclined windscreen and correspondingly shortened side windows. These features make the sports car more compact and athletic. The sporty interior of the car is made of leather. In fact, the model is a reminiscent of the 1960s Porsche design.
Porsche, the German automobile manufacturer, has produced this limited edition model as a gift for the 70th anniversary of its sports cars. The company decided to make only 1,948 units as this number is also reminiscent of the year the first sports car with the name Porsche was produced. It was the Porsche 356 which made its debut in 1948.
The characteristic shape of the seats and recesses in the seat centres are inspired by the design of the 918 Spyder. This car doesn’t come with an inbuilt air conditioner as it is built with so much free spirit. But, of course, available as an option at no extra cost. You also have an option of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with online navigation together with Apple CarPlay at no additional charges.
Porsche has gone one extra mile to celebrate its 70th in style. Together with the minimalist sporty car comes a matching Porsche design 911 speedster chronograph watch which not only tells the time, but also Porsche’s journey so far. The watch features a carbon fibre dial, a rotor modelled after the Speedster’s centre lock wheel, and a strap made of Porsche interior leather.
