Sailing is tough on those who are environmentally conscious. But ‘E,’ the eco-friendly catamaran might solve that problem without compromising on luxury.
Sunreef Yachts has created this model which is essentially their Sunreef 60, with a high-powered electric propulsion system. E has two 55 kWh engines which generate electricity from wind and charge the 140 kWh propulsion battery. It also has curved solar panels which provide clean energy. We bet the oceans will be really happy about that.
But that’s not all. It also has a high-tech waste water management system, recyclable sails, eco-friendly paint, and is free of single-use plastic. Project co-creator Tomasz Piekarec said, “We had a dream to sail in silence, to harness the power of the sun, sea and wind to create a truly sustainable and innovative yachting experience that still affords our guests the luxuries associated with a charter holiday.”
If you think this catamaran has compromised on luxury, think again. It has 4 ensuite cabins, made of marble and teak for that finessed look. All meals will be prepared by celebrity chef Marcin Nowicki, with only the choicest of ingredients. And as for entertainment, you will have access to seabobs, electric bikes, paddleboards, and even diving equipment.
At $46,000 per week, these are quite within the reasonable range for what they offer. E will take you to the Virgin Islands, Antigua and Barbados, Guadeloupe, and more. You can make reservations on their website. And the best part is, the whole ride will happen in complete silence.
