Who isn’t mesemerised by the beauty of the Taj Mahal? After Blue Noses recreated the architecture marvel in Swarovski diamonds, and now Monnaie de Paris has made a solid gold Taj Mahal coin decorated with 60 Cartier diamonds. This creation is a part of the series undertaken by Monnaie de Paris on UNESCO World Heritage sites and monuments.
The coin weighs about 1 kg and has a diameter of 85 millimeters. Priced at 100,000 Euros, the coin features the Taj Mahal along with its long tree-lined pool. The reverse shows a drawing of the UNESCO building along with the UNESCO logo and has the year 2010 inscribed on it.
The sparkling Cartier diamonds adorn the dome of the Taj Mahal. Only 29 such coins will be minted and each one of them will come in a case specailly made by Goyard. The case features a 24-carat detailing and inside you’ll find a coin loop, magnifying glass and a smaller travel carrier for taking the piece around.
