We, at The Rich Times, are no strangers to covering extravagant stuff. Even then, sometimes, a product comes along that baffles us to no end. So, what is this extravagant item that has caught our eye this time around you wonder? Well, it is The thousand dollar cookie. That’s right folks! It is a cookie that is priced the same as an iPhone. We all thought Apple was bad eh.
Why does it exist?
Worry not though! Maybe, after I am done explaining to you the features and the origins of this cookie, you might see some value in it. Our story starts with one Sofia Demetriou. In the past, she used to be a cake artist. Her company used to make designer cakes. But then, she graduated to making cookies.
Her new darling, Duchess Cookies makes great cookies for everyone. Not just rich people. The cookies come in 27 flavors and the shop features 13 out of the 27 flavors every day. The featured flavors, of course, vary each day but you can expect to get great cookies for $5.50 no matter which ones you go for.
However, for those with elite tastes, Ms. Sofia has designed The Thousand Dollar Cookie. It is, therefore, no surprise that few of her first customers were from Dubai. She didn’t design the most expensive cookie all on her own though. She had the help of the Food God. She sacrificed hundreds of commoner cookies to summon him. Just kidding.
Who’s the food God?
Mr. Food God is the best friend of Mrs. Kardashian West. His name is Jonathan Cheban. Together with Sofia, he came up with the extravagant cookie.
The biggest factor in the cookie’s conception was that Sofia wanted to drive up her online sales. Being a small business owner isn’t easy after all. Plus, having a flagship product such as this also lets you tap into the quite profitable luxury market.
Jonathan Cheban didn’t only help in the creation process though. He also helped promote the cookie. In fact, the promo was so successful that sales went up by 50% the next day.
So, what makes this cookie so special?
To start off, the cookie has the appearance of soft and plush velvet. The cookie is red in color and is fashioned out of imported ruby chocolate ganache. They also fill the inside of the cookie with “beautiful, luscious ganache”. Lastly, the cookie is coated with 23,000 gold leaves.
But, you would be wrong if you assumed that this is what drives the price of the cookie. The actual cost comes from the bling that you get along with the cookie.
The cookie comes inside a sculpted shoe that is made of chocolate. The whole affair sits atop a Baccarat catchall and is adorned by a string of freshwater pearls. The lady thinks that this is the only presentation style worthy of the customers of The Thousand dollar cookie.
Who buys this stuff?
Wondering what kind of customers are fancying this product? Apparently, they are husbands trying to impress their wives. After all, a sweet, chocolaty, creamy, golden affair that comes with a nice shoe and a large crystal seem like the natural gift for their lovely wives.
