Sure we have seen more than our share of diamond rings, jewellery and assorted stuff such as cars that dont really deserve to be shod with diamonds but get them anyway. But a diamond ring made of – gasp – a diamond? Allow me to explain – when we usually say diamond rings ; its a gold band (or any other precious metal) on which the stones are set. Swiss Jewellery house Shawish is about to change that definition with their creation.
A ring that is carved directly out of a chunk of diamond rough – is what Shawish has been working on since the last one year. The design took a year to get copyrighted and then there were multiple tests that had to be done. Its certainly not easy carving something thats the hardest substance known to mankind. Special lasers were used to cut into the diamond while ensuring that the integrity of the diamond was not compromised.
The ring which shall be unveiled at a exclusive invitation-only event at Il Bottaccio, on Grosvenor Place on April 14th is a stunning 150 carats.
The ring is expected to be sold for £43 million / 70 million USD. More details as well as images will be released on April 14th.
