Uggie, the dog from The Artist (the silent movie that did a sweep at the Oscars with a rich haul of 5 awards) thought it prudent to wear a Chopard collar to show off his success. The dog which even waved at the press (seriously) was invited to Harvey Weinstein’s party at Soho House in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Uggie was accompanied by three bodyguards and in a sure sign of becoming a celebrity, the bodyguards prevented anyone else from using the elevator along with Uggie. The pooch even posed for pictures with other celebs like Katy Perry.
The Chopard collar that Uggie wore was worth £120,000, if sources are to be believed. It is thought that Chopard sponsored the collar for the party – as is the norm in Hollywood with jewelers lending their jewels to the stars for the big nights.
The collar that Uggie wore on Oscar night itself was made with 18 karat gold and black satin (also designed by Chopard) and was to be auctioned to benefit the Amanda Foundation – an animal rescue group in Los Angeles. Chopard made two collars – one which the dog wore on Oscar night and the other for the party. The Oscar night collar is to be auctioned.
