Barbie! Barbie! Barbie! Everyone’s just talking about their favorite doll now that she is 50 years old (though she doesn’t look that old). And if you thought that only girls are mad about her think again. Giovanni Madonia aged 32 of Docklands, East London works as a doorman and is the proud owner of one of the world’s largest Barbie doll collections, 3,200 to be precise.
Giovanni has stuffed most of his collection in his apartment and some of it back home in Sicily. It is one of the world’s largest collections and features some incredible pieces like a Versace model (the one in the picture) and one in porcelain. Giovanni, began collecting dolls at 12 and his mum tried to ban him from buying them at toy shops. Now working at the private Royal Automobile Club in London, he said: “All the people in my village laughed at me, but I never paid attention.” However, all the criticism and mockery didn’t keep him away from his hobby of collecting dolls. And now the guy is really happy that he continued to gather the dolls as his huge collection can fetch him a good 100,000 pounds (US $144,925). Some guys have all the luck!!!
