The world’s largest super yacht was originally commissioned by Prince Jefri of Brunei. However, following the prince’s bankruptcy Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum purchased the partly-constructed behemoth in 2006. The Emir of Dubai has finally unveiled the largest super yacht in the world. Formerly it was known as Project Goldstar however now it has renamed as Project Platinum.
The completion of this project cost the Sheikh about US $350 million. The 531 ft. yacht has 8 decks and accommodates 115 people including a crew of 88. Moreover the yacht features a swimming pool, Jacuzzis, helipad and multiple dining areas, saloons, guest and VIP suites and two owner’s suites on the sixth and seventh decks as well as two heli-observations rooms on the seventh and eighth decks. The most amazing part is that the yacht will also have a Las Vegas casino by way of the UAE. However let’s see for how long does the yacht hold its title of the largest yacht as Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich commissioned an even larger yacht, the $355 million, 555-ft. Eclipse. The yacht will include a military-grade missile defense system. Are we really facing a credit crunch?
