Gerard Lamontagne is the owner of the Snow Lake Motor Inn in Snow Lake, Manitoba. Manitoba is a small mining town in Canada built around the Brittania gold mine and has been the home of many miners and their families. However, with the ever-increasing migration of people towards the big cities, Mr. Lamontagne had to develop a unique way to promote the bar. The solution? Make a shot glass out of solid gold!
The Golden Glass.
The idea of a shot glass made out of solid gold seems to be something right out of a history book about some emperor. But, you won’t have to be a time-traveler to enjoy this luxury. You can simply visit Snow Lake, go to the motor inn, and order the Golden 49er. Now, the name may not sound like something needlessly royal. But, it does its job perfectly.

Mr. Lamontagne used the gold that was mined in the community to make this shot glass. Now, many people would just stop at this and be done with it. However, Mr. Lamontagne did not. He wants this thing to be more than a simple promotional stunt. Therefore, he plans on giving away a portion of the proceeds from its sale to charities around Canada and hopes that this unique experience draws more tourists to the town.
So, why wait? If you are looking for a place to visit after two years of being confined to your home, go to Snow Lake. Only lovely views and a golden shot glass await you.
